Amanda Marsalis

Amanda Marsalis is a director, photographer, former teen punk, and devoted dog mom. Through her rebellious youth and celebrated photography career shooting for GQ, Vogue, Condé Nast Traveler, FADER, and numerous advertising clients including Apple and Nike, Marsalis developed a knack for capturing the beauty around her through the lens of her camera. Her critically acclaimed directorial debut, Echo Park, starring Mamie Gummer, was picked up by Ava DuVernay’s company ARRAY for distribution in 2016. This collaboration led Marsalis to direct on Duvernay’s QUEEN SUGAR, where she showcased her eye for story and beautiful composition. She drew from her love of visceral 90s action movies when she helmed episodes of OZARK, WESTWORLD, and UMBRELLA ACADEMY. After directing and producing four episodes of Simon Kinberg and David Weil’s thrilling, globe-hopping INVASION for AppleTV, Marsalis reunited with ARRAY as the director and co-executive producer of the pilot for the CW’s NAOMI, written by Ava Duvernay and Jill Blankenship. She also returned to OZARK to direct four episodes of the final season. Marsalis continues to hone her craft as a photographer and her talent is on display in all of her work, including on her dog’s instagram, @quesolife.
